In addition to down-ranking sites associated with disinformation, we also often place news modules and information boxes at the top of DuckDuckGo search results (where they are seen and clicked the most) to highlight quality information for rapidly unfolding topics.

Hoping to clear up some misconceptions about our private search engine. First, there is a completely made up headline going around this weekend. We are not "purging" any media outlets from results. Anyone can verify this by searching for an outlet and see it come up in results.

Facts > Knowledge Data + Knowledge = Information Information + Context = Insight Insight + Decisions = Action The Russians are producing bad data that we know to be misleading, because they’re trying to eliminate Ukraine, so DDG decided to remove that bad data set. That’s fine.

What is your falsifiable definition of disinformation? Will you be transparent about what sites you have labeled as such and how you determined that? Will it be all sources of government disinformation getting down-ranked? What's the definition of "associated with" you are using?

The replies on this are quite amazing. Can you see how swiftly most of your user base has been put off by this announcement? Loyal long time supporters are talking about abandoning the service. Please reconsider your stance on this. It's a dangerous slippery slope for all of us.
