Doom, formerly known as Doom 4, is the next game in the long-running, iconic Doom franchise. It was one of the most talked-about games at this year’s E3, the trailer displaying the game’s melding of classic run-and-gun Doom gameplay with the cutting-edge technology that id Software has become known for. Jason Martin, the lead character artist for Doom and the man responsible for the art in the trailer, got an overwhelmingly positive reception from fans for his work.
However, Anita Sarkeesian and Jonathan McIntosh were not far behind, wagging their fingers at anyone who enjoyed the Doom trailer.
Enter Feminist Frequency
For those who (mercifully) didn’t know, Anita Sarkeesian and Jonathan McIntosh are the tag-team duo responsible for the horrible “Tropes vs. Women in Video Games” video series on YouTube. McIntosh is the producer and co-writer of the series along with Sarkeesian.
In the above photo, both Sarkeesian and McIntosh expressed their disgust while watching the new Doom trailer. Sarkeesian expressed how depressing it was to see how Bethesda glorified violence while the audience cheered them on. McIntosh thought there was something seriously wrong with a person who cheered for the trailer and complained about how modern game design involved extreme violence.
The main problem with Sarkeesian’s and McIntosh’s view is that they do not understand Doom. Doom involves killing evil demons. No one will have any sympathy for committing “extreme acts of violence” like shooting guns at evil demons. Also, if you are being attacked by demons, you would want to shoot them back with guns as self-defense. So, if you understand the context of this game in which the violence takes place, then it is not bad at all. It is ridiculous for Sarkeesian and McIntosh to have such disgust for violence in Doom when you consider the context of the game.
Who Is Jason Martin?
Jason Martin responded to Anita Sarkeesian’s and Jonathan McIntosh’s Tweets in the best possible way: quoting them and declaring, “HAHA winning!”
Social justice warriors have not taken Martin’s irreverent response seriously. They have called for him to be fired from his job as a lead character artist for the new Doom game. In the picture above, Jason Martin had to write a Facebook post to explain his Tweet because of all the backlash he got from social justice warriors.
In a Facebook post, Jason Martin makes the important point that he never actually attacked Sarkeesian or McIntosh. He never threatened them or attacked their character in anyway. All he did was express his disagreement with the views of violence that Sarkeesian and McIntosh had. Martin also expressed how ridiculous it was that social justice warriors would want to get him fired over that Tweet. Martin has a family he has to take care of and he has worked hard on this game. His life and all of his hard work could be ruined because SJWs do not agree with him.
Social Justice Warriors
Even with this post, it shows that Jason Martin doesn’t understand something important about social justice warriors. He doesn’t get that they do not respond to logic or evidence: they only respond to anger, frustration, and trigger warnings. They are very emotional, reactionary beings devoid of logical reasoning. If you simply disagree with a social justice warrior, then they will view it as a personal attack on their character and automatically label you a misogynist.
He is wasting his time trying to explain his position in a logical way when talking to SJWs. Instead, he should just shame them like he did with his initial response to Sarkeesian and McIntosh. Shame them to the point of showing everyone how ridiculous social justice warriors really are. Point and laugh at them.
In conclusion, GamerGate supporters should do their best to back Jason Martin so that he can keep his job. Support the game he is making because it really pisses off social justice warriors.
