No clue about the shrinkwrap, but it's completely normal nowadays for a PC release to not have a disc, and instead a code. Newer PCs don't even have disk drives now. Still waiting on mine today though. Sucks its Bethesda launcher only

The game is over 48GB of download.

That ain't fittin' on a disk. And if it did, most of them are 2x drives, which means 72Mbps at best, for the outside of the disk. Meaning it would take 2 disks and over half an hour just to read the disk at full possible speed, which you'll never get.

On the other hand, it took me about 10 minutes to get it downloaded and installed, lol. If the box is there, that's what you're displaying anyway.

I completely expect this. I'm waiting for mine to show up still but I completely expect just a download code especially when the games just gonna have an update in the next day or 2.

I'm fully aware. But the Doom 2016 Collector's Edition DID has a disc. That especially threw me off on this.

Not to criticize what you like but would you mind explaining why is the disc so important?

Hi Tauren333,

I just received my collector edition and I'm in the same situation, without a physical CD.

To be honest if I just want to but a numeric version of game I'll go on the store and buy it online. When I buy a physical game, especially a collector edition I fully expect to have all the physical part.

Maybe I'm old fashioned and I'm attached a bit too much to something I can touch :).The rest of the collector edition is great. But if feel like it's missing something.

And there was no warning when I preorder the stuff.

Stay safe.
